The US, Israel, and Ukraine are negotiating to transfer up to eight Patriot systems to Kyiv, which have been shown to be capable of intercepting all types of Russian missiles, including the newest Kinzhal, reports the Financial Times (FT).
Five anonymous informed sources told FT that these talks are being conducted at the level of ministers and some other high-ranking officials of the three countries. A final agreement has not yet been reached.
According to three FT sources, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed the possibility of moving the aforesaid Patriots belonging to Israel to Ukraine with latter’s FM Dmytro Kuleba, while US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan discussed this matter with the Head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak.
The configuration of this deal is being discussed in advance, according to which Israel will sell its old Patriots to the US, and then they will be transferred to Ukraine, which, however, will not necessarily get all eight of these systems.
