The Russian Boxing Federation (RBF) banned for life the mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter from Azerbaijan Javid Rzayev, who had insulted Russian athlete Artur Kulinsky during a tournament, RBF announced Thursday, reports Izvestia.

The RBF press service added that the law enforcement officers continue to inspect this athlete, including regarding possible participation in extremist activities.

The RBF had submitted a statement to the Prosecutor General’s Office after the Azerbaijani aforesaid sportsman had called Kulinsky a "Russian pig" at the Hardcore FC league tournament. The incident took place on May 22. Later, Rzayv apologized to Kulinsky, stating that he did not want to offend the Russian people.

After this incident, the Hardcore FC league, together with the RBF developed a series of measures aimed at strengthening the prohibition of discrimination in physical education and sports, as well as ensuring the safety of life and health of participants and spectators of such events. In addition, measures were taken to prevent the actions of extremists.
