The civilian consultant of the US Department of State to the Ministry of Defense of Armenia intends to start providing consultation support in the coming months, the US Embassy told the Armenian service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

The embassy clarified that the Global Defense Reform Program consultant is not funded by the US Army or the Department of Defense. The funding is provided by the State Department, and the consultant will support the strengthening of Armenia's defense institutions.

"The US Department of State's Global Defense Reform Program supports partner states around the world in building more resilient, effective and accountable security institutions, providing strategic level consultancy support," the US Embassy in Armenia said.

It comes after US Deputy Secretary of State Uzra Zeya confirmed to Hetq.am the information that there is a decision that a representative of the American army will work in the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
