make preferableA meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian was held in Tehran Tuesday, the PM's office informs.
At the meeting, the president-elect of Iran thanked PM Pashinyan for accepting the invitation and coming to Iran on a working visit. Pezeshkian added that Iran values the continuous development of relations with friendly Armenia in the political, economic, and humanitarian domains.
In turn, Nikol Pashinyan thanked Masoud Pezeshkian for his warm hospitality and once again congratulated him on his election as the President of Iran. The premier emphasized that multilateral cooperation with Iran—and based on mutual respect and understanding—is of great importance for Armenia,.
Masoud Pezeshkian, reaffirming the previously reached agreements at a high level, noted. "The age-old friendship, historical, and cultural close relations of our two peoples are the basis for further development of bilateral cooperation. We [i.e. Iran] are ready to continue, with joint efforts, our dialogue and further enrich the bilateral cooperation agenda."
"The fact that I am here today is proof of our commitment to deepen relations between Armenia and Iran at the highest level, to strengthen cooperation," Pashinyan said in response.
Also, presented the Armenian government’s Crossroads of Peace project and its principles aimed at unblocking regional communication channels.
The Iranian president-elect, for his part, highlighted the consistent efforts to establish peace and stability in the region.
Masoud Pezeshkian noted that maintaining peace in the region is of key importance for Iran, adding that the Iranian side also considers it necessary to settle all issues through dialogue.
Nikol Pashinyan underscored the engagement of the Iranian side in the construction of the North-South motorway. The importance of the steps being taken to modernize the Armenia-Iran border checkpoint was also emphasized.
The leaders of Armenia and Iran discussed a wide range of matters related to the strengthening of trade and economic ties, and reflected on the implementation of new joint programs in health care, the latest technologies, education, science, and culture.
Masoud Pezeshkian noted that he had been on a private visit to Armenia and has warm impressions of the country and its people.
The interlocutors emphasized bilateral high-level mutual visits.
