The US Department of State responded to the questions regarding the Armenian-American military exercises and Azerbaijan's reaction to it, as well as the possible changes in the US policy towards Armenia after the US presidential election in November, reports the VOA Armenian service.

Responding to the question about Azerbaijan's statements on Armenian-American military exercises, the State Department emphasized that the United States has a long-standing partnership with Armenia, an example of which is its ongoing cooperation with the Kansas National Guard under the National Partnership Program of the US Department of Defense.

The United States has a distinct defense and security relationship with Azerbaijan, including cooperation in multinational exercises such as the recent Agile Spirit in Georgia, NATO's Partnership for Peace, and a number of other bilateral formats such as the National Partnership Program of the US Department of Defense.

The US State Department noted that Armenia and Azerbaijan continue to make significant progress towards concluding a peace agreement, and the US is determined to support this process. The time for peace has come, it added.

Answering the question regarding any changes in the US foreign policy after the possible change of the American administration in November, the State Department stated that it is non-partisan.

The US government's foreign policy can change during different presidential administrations. However, the basic principles of US foreign policy remain unchanged, including the promotion of security, democracy, prosperity, and development in the United States and around the world, the State Department said in a statement.
