Alexander Schallenberg, Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria, has been hospitalized due to pneumonitis, inflammation of the lungs, Kleine Zeitung newspaper reports.

The FM has been in the hospital since August 24. All events and trips of Schallenberg planned for this week have been postponed.

"He is fine, he is sincerely grateful to the treating doctors and staff for the excellent medical care," the Austrian MFA commented on the matter.

In particular, Schallenberg was supposed to go to Brussels Thursday to meet with the FMs of the other European Union countries and attend the GLOBSEC Forum.
