Azerbaijanis believe that there is a historic chance to ensure strong peace in the region, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, in Ankara.

Bayramov noted that this is why the Azerbaijani side had submitted to Armenia a draft peace agreement, five basic principles.

"Although positive dynamics are observed in the process of negotiations and a considerable part of the draft agreement has been agreed upon, the territorial ambitions [of Armenia] towards Azerbaijan are maintained as before in the constitution of Armenia and a number of other normative-legal acts. At the same time, it is no secret that Armenia has territorial ambitions also towards the Republic of Turkey. Currently, the main obstacle to concluding the peace agreement is the territorial ambitions [of Armenia] being presented to our countries, which are set forth in the constitution of Armenia," said the Azerbaijani FM.
