The Minister of Agriculture of Russia and the head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of Russia did not raise any issues related to Armenian brandy. Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan stated this at Monday’s meeting of the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration of the National Assembly of Armenia—and referring to the reports about the non-safety of 90 percent of the Armenian brandy being sold in Russian stores.

"I had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Agriculture and the head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of the Russian Federation. During those two telephone conversations, we discussed various issues, but our Russian colleagues did not say anything about [Armenian] brandy alcohol. No problem was pointed out to me. We raised various matters; they, too. But the matter of brandy alcohol was not raised," said Papoyan.

According to him, the quality of Armenian brandy alcohol has a very important place on the agenda of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia. Brandy and brandy spirit, according to the minister, should be exported from Armenia.

"This plays a very important role on my agenda. I will do everything to ensure that the alcohol leaving Armenia be entirely from raw grapes. This is a matter of the brand of Armenia and Armenian brandy," emphasized the member of the Armenian government.
