Liberalization of visas with the European Union (EU) will not lead to large emigration phenomena in Armenia. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during the Second Global Armenian Summit Wednesday.

Pashinyan recalled that Armenia’s talks with the EU regarding visa liberalization have already officially started. According to him, before the start of these negotiations, studies were done as to what extent the wave of emigration has increased in some other countries that have adopted a policy of visa liberalization.

"Let me give the example of Georgia, which is also a close neighbor for us. No large emigration phenomena are observed there after the liberalization of visas. On the contrary, when people record that they have a lot of opportunities to come and go freely, then the desire to go and stay decreases even more," Pashinyan emphasized.

The premier noted that now there are thousands of people in the EU and the US who do not return to Armenia because they got there with difficulty, and if they return to Armenia, they will not be able to go anymore.
