The Constitutional Court of Armenia on Tuesday will examine, in a written procedure, the matter of constitutionality of the regulation on the joint work of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border delimitation commissions.

On August 30, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia had announced that Armenia and Azerbaijan signed the regulation on the joint activity of their border delimitation and demarcation commissions.

According to this document, Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to delimit their border based on the Almaty Declaration of 1991, but this agreement is not final.

The regulation states that the aforesaid process may proceed in accordance with some other principles in the future, after the adoption of the peace agreement.

The regulation has seven articles, mostly technical data related to the process, and general wording.

On September 5, the Armenian government approved the ratification of this regulation. And on the same day, this document was sent to the Constitutional Court of Armenia to consider its constitutionality.

And if the Constitutional Court finds this document to be in line with Armenia’s constitution, it will be sent to the National Assembly of Armenia for ratification.
