The foreign ministers of Germany and Turkey have discussed the steps to achieve peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan—but without the participation of Yerevan and Baku.

A meeting between Annalena Baerbock, the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany, and Hakan Fidan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey took place on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, the German Federal Foreign Office reported on the X—formerly Twitter.

"Turkey is an important mediator for peace in our neighborhood. Turkey can contribute to a historic peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Concrete steps towards this were discussed between A[nnalena] Baerbock & Hakan Fidan at UNGA79," noted the German Foreign Office.
