The UN Security Council must intervene immediately to prevent the Middle East conflict from turning into a full-scale regional war. This was stated in the letters of Amir Saeid Iravani, Permanent Representative of Iran to the UN, addressed to the President of the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General.

In the letters which Iran's diplomatic mission at the UN released to reporters, Iravani reiterated Iran’s calls for the UN Security Council “to urgently and decisively intervene to halt Israel’s continued aggression and war crimes against Lebanon, Gaza and Syria and to prevent the situation from escalating into a full-scale regional war.”
