The Armenian government implements a balanced foreign policy. I myself have said that the policy pursued by Armenia is not complementarity, it is balanced. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during the question-and-answer session with the government at the National Assembly of Armenia on Wednesday.

"When the matter of our participation in the 3+3 format was being decided, and we decided that we should participate, that decision was seriously criticized. But now I can say that it was a very correct decision. It emphasizes the regional dimension of our foreign policy," said Pashinyan.

The PM stated that Armenia’s relations with Iran are normal, and not the result of a political decision.

"We can say the same about relations with Georgia. Our policies are aimed at normalizing of relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan. During our independence, we put as much foreign policy burden on the shoulders of the soldier. (...). It doesn't happen that way. Complementarity also has been our guarantee of security. There is a guarantee of security, it is the peace of having a normal relationship with your neighbors.

There is a lot of talk about external guarantees. I will say directly: at least after this, we should not believe it. We have to guarantee our security; but not only with soldiers and army, but also with our politics, economy, our social-psychology, our approaches to give in or not to provocations," Pashinyan said.
