At Wednesday’s press briefing, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), accused Western countries of their “destabilizing” activities both in Armenia and in the South Caucasus.

Thus, she commented on the question by an Azerbaijani reporter who expressed dissatisfaction with the programs of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which plans to increase monitoring over cybersecurity, energy, and border security in Armenia.

Also, the Azerbaijani reporter expressed dissatisfaction with the aforesaid American organization's plan to increase its funding to Armenia.

"This simply confirms the destabilizing nature of the West's activities both in Armenia and in the entire South Caucasus," Zakharova responded.

According to her, it is impossible not to see these facts, it is impossible not to see these trends, and it is impossible not to see the track record of Armenia’s neighboring and other countries where similar attempts have already been made.

"Those who conduct nationally oriented politics, know history, are not temporary workers, not just political PR figures, but are truly statesmen who care about their country and people, could have avoided it in the national interest," Zakharova added.
