Pro-Palestinian protesters threw a bag of tomatoes and red onions at Swedish foreign minister Maria Malmer Stenergard, local Sveriges Radio reports.

This incident took place during Thursday’s parliamentary debates on Sweden's position on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the settlements in the West Bank.

A bag of vegetables was thrown nearby the Swedish FM, but she was not injured.

Stenergard ran out of the sessions’ hall, the debates were suspended.

A 45-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man had interrupted these parliamentary debates. Subsequently, they were removed from the sessions’ hall.

"We should be able to hold parliamentary debates without people throwing things at us. This is the basis of democratic discourse," Stenergard said, commenting on the incident.
