Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warmly congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on his birthday in a telephone conversation, the Kremlin press service reported Monday.

"The leaders expressed satisfaction with the constructive nature of Russia-Turkiye relations and voiced their readiness to collaborate closely in the future. They discussed several topical bilateral and international issues, including dangerous developments in the Middle East," the statement reads, in part.

Erdogan stated that it is necessary to continue developing the dialogue between the leaders of the two countries.

"Pointing out that strengthening and enhancement of Turkish-Russian relations is pleasing, President Erdoğan expressed that high-level political dialogue will persist," the Turkish president's office noted on X.

In particular, the Turkish president emphasized that Ankara and Moscow will continue to discuss regional and global developments in detail on various occasions in the near future.

The press service of the Kremlin reports that they “confirmed their readiness to hold a separate meeting between Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the events of the BRICS summit in Kazan.”
