Azerbaijan has complained to NATO representatives about the European Union (EU) monitoring mission in Armenia, which is located on the Armenian side of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

“The deployment of the EU mission on the territory of Armenia on the conditional border leads to the tension of the situation in the South Caucasus,” said First Deputy Minister of Defense-Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Karim Valiyev, at a meeting with the Director General of NATO's International Military Staff, Janusz Adamczak, who is visiting Azerbaijan, APA reports.

"The Chief of the General Staff emphasized that the deployment of the European Union observation mission in the Armenian territory of the conditional border and arming Armenia by some extraregional countries, particularly France, contribute to the emergence of revanchist forces, hinder the normalization of relations and the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and escalate the situation in the South Caucasus," APA added.
