John Podesta, Senior Advisor to the US President for International Climate Policy is on a visit to Azerbaijan, the US Embassy in Baku said, APA reports.

The purpose of Podesta's visit to Azerbaijan is to attend the meetings ahead of the СОР29 climate conference to be held in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku in November, and to “strengthen U.S. cooperation with Azerbaijan on critical climate issues.”

But as reported on Tuesday, the Azerbaijani MPs have called on the country's president to terminate Azerbaijan’s agreements with the US and to suspend the USAID projects in Azerbaijan. The demonstrative speech was adapted to this visit.

Kerry McCarthy, the UK Minister for Climate, is also in Azerbaijan these days. This was informed in a post on Х by the UK embassy in Baku.
