During their meeting on Monday, the foreign ministers of the European Union (EU) member countries have agreed to impose new sanctions on Iran due to its provision of ballistic missiles to Russia, EU diplomats have informed, reports dpa news agency.

These sanctions are directed against the Iranian companies, institutions, and persons involved in the production and supply of ballistic missiles, EU diplomats said after the respective decision was made in Luxembourg.

Any other details of this decision are still unknown. Those who will be subject to these sanctions will soon be publicized in the Official Journal of the European Union.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has condemned the planned EU sanctions, and said that Iran has not provided ballistic missiles to Russia.
