It is as a result of climate changes that the temperature in Armenia had reached 42 degrees Celsius in the summer; in addition, this year's floods were also caused by this. Asian Development Bank (ADB) international climate change specialist Esmyra Javier stated this in an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am on the sidelines of a training held by the ADB resident mission in Armenia.

Studies show that the increase in temperature will not be limited to this. As a result of climate change, the temperature in Armenia may rise to 50 degrees Celsius by the year 2100, as a result of which the amount of precipitation and the number of floods may increase as well, Javier said.

According to her, climate change can have the greatest impact on water resources and agriculture, and food safety issues may arise, too.

The government of Armenia is doing quite well in this regard, in the sense of the steps being taken and the documents being developed. National long-term strategies have been developed, as well as various national adaptation programs, which need to be implemented in various domains, added the climate change expert.
