Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday received the ambassadors of the European Union (EU) member states accredited in Armenia, led by Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, Head of the Delegation of EU to Armenia.

The premier underscored the Armenia-EU multi-sector cooperation and once again stressed the readiness of the Armenian government to deepen and expand multi-sector relations with European partners, the PM's office informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In this context, Pashinyan emphasized the need for effective and consistent implementation of the agreements reached last October in Granada with Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, as well as in the statement adopted following the Armenia-EU-US high-level meeting in Brussels this April.

Ambassador Maragos, for his part, reflected on the process of implementation of the steps envisaged by the abovementioned statements, and emphasized the EU's continued support in promoting democratic and economic reforms in Armenia, including for the development of the capacities of the country’s private sector. Also, the head of the EU delegation to Armenia underscored the start of dialogue with the country on EU visa liberalization, and the decision to provide assistance to Armenia from the EU European Peace Facility.

Next, the talks on the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty were discussed. In this connection, PM Pashinyan stressed the commitment of the Armenian party to the peace agenda and emphasized Armenia's readiness to sign this treaty based on its agreed articles and continue further discussions on the other articles.

In the context of ensuring peace and stability in Armenia’s region, the interlocutors highlighted the effective activities of the EU monitoring mission in the country.

In addition, views were exchanged on the possibilities of unblocking regional communications. In this regard, Ambassador Maragos expressed the EU's support for Armenia's sovereignty and the Crossroads of Peace project presented by its government.

Several other matters of regional importance were also touched upon during the meeting.
