A joint declaration is planned to be adopted after the 3+3 format (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia-Russia, Turkey, Iran) meeting in Istanbul on Friday, diplomatic sources inform, reports TRT Haber television of Turkey.
This document will emphasize the importance of the countries of the region to solve existing problems through dialogue, the need to respect sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs, prohibition of the threat of using force, and respect for human rights.
The participants of the aforesaid meeting will talk also about the expansion of economic cooperation, including the creation of regional transport corridors, TRT Haber adds.
The discussants will be hosted by the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Georgia again has declined to attend the meeting of the 3+3 platform.
This six-party format of cooperation in the South Caucasus was launched by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey at the end of 2020, and it was called "3+3." Its last meeting at the level of foreign ministers was held in Tehran in October 2023.
