After the approval of their regulation, the border delimitation commissions of Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to agree on the sequence and to continue the process of delimitation of all parts of the border, including the issues of enclaves and exclaves. The legal bases of the activities of these commissions are supplemented by the regulation. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan at Monday’s meeting of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia.

Grigoryan added that the aforesaid regulation creates opportunities for the use of additional security mechanisms for the border residents of both countries.

"Procedural issues related to the agreement on the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan to be signed later are also being settled, in which the establishment of the international legal bases of the state border of Armenia is a legal guarantee of ensuring Armenia's security, territorial integrity.

It follows from the regulation that in the future, an international agreement on the state border will be signed between the two countries, it will go through domestic procedures, after which the description of passing off the border line will come into force," Grigoryan added.

The matter of ratifying the regulation on the joint activities of the commissions on delimitation of the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan is being debated on at the meeting of the aforesaid NA committee of Armenia.
