Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev has complained to Michael Carpenter, Special Assistant to the US President and Senior Director for Europe at the National Security Council, about the constitution of Armenia.

Receiving the guest, the president of Azerbaijan said Monday that "Azerbaijan is the initiator of the peace agreement," APA reports.

Then Aliyev said that Baku supports the regional peace agenda.

He stated that "Armenia’s delay in sending its latest proposals on the text of the peace agreement—after 70 days—raises certain concerns about Armenia's intentions to advance the process."

"Aliyev underlined that Armenia's territorial claims against Azerbaijan, based on constitutional grounds, remain a key obstacle to finalizing the peace agreement. The head of state stressed that Azerbaijan would continue to take decisive steps toward advancing the process," APA adds.

To note, however, that Azerbaijan does not even consider changing its own constitution, which contains direct territorial ambitions towards Armenia and views the entire territory of Armenia as "Azerbaijani."
