General Motors (GM) has unveiled an armored vehicle designed for special services with unique equipment, reports Motor.ru. GM Defense, a subsidiary of the aforesaid auto giant, has presented details about this Next Gen project.

The innovation was demonstrated using a four-door pickup truck as an example; it is a serial hybrid.

Under the hood is a 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine that is not connected to the wheels and feeds a 12-volt battery.

All-wheel drive is provided by front and rear electric engines.

General Motors' military pickup truck is based on the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with the ZR2 package, but it appears that only the frame and some interior components remain from the civilian truck.

The technology is completely different, and GM does not yet offer mass-market EREV hybrids.

But its power reserve, power and weight specifications are not being disclosed.
