The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it has discovered documents in the Gaza Strip that it claims show that six journalists from the Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera were militants of the Palestinian groups Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Times of Israel reported.

The IDF gave the names of the dead journalists as Anas al-Sharif, Alaa Salameh, Hossam Shabat, Ashraf al-Sarraj, Ismail Abu Omar and Talal al-Arrouki.

The military released the documents, which they claim contain personnel charts, training course lists, phone books and “salary” documents. They say the documents “unequivocally prove” that the journalists were allegedly members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad's respective military units.

Al Jazeera TV itself denies the allegations.
