Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei lamented that the United Nations is failing in its mission and becoming an ineffective platform against Israel's war on Gaza, Mehr reported.

In his microblog on social network X, Baghaei noted that October 24 is United Nations Day and asked the rhetorical question, “Where is the UN today?”

“Established on October 24, 1945 to save future generations from war and atrocities and to promote the rule of law and justice, the United Nations has become a woefully ineffective platform, unable to take any effective collective action to stop Israel's manic genocide in Gaza and its war of aggression in Lebanon and beyond. The UN is sadly failing in its task as the US unconditional support for the occupation regime has emboldened the regime so much that it has expanded its aggression and atrocities across the region, killed 230 UN staffers, declared the UN Secretary General persona non grata, ripped the UN Charter to shreds and ignored the International Court of Justice's decision to stop its horrific genocide in Gaza,” he wrote.

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, the UN is not limited to the United States.

He added that the international organization should be revitalized through its responsible membership to counter the “pariah's warmongering.”
