The sixth session of the Armenia-European Union (EU) Partnership Committee on Trade was held on Thursday and Friday in Brussels, informs the Ministry of Economy of Armenia.

During the session, the parties discussed the measures being implemented within the framework of cooperation under the trade and trade-related issues section of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the relevant roadmaps in several domains.

The questions regarding the smooth and effective termination of the use of the geographical indication "Cognac" for products originating in Armenia, as stipulated in Article 237 of CEPA, as well as the technical and financial assistance being provided by the EU to Armenia’s industry in order to maintain its competitive position in the export markets, were also presented and discussed.

During the session, the results of the sessions of the subcommittees on geographical indications and customs affairs, under the Armenia-EU Partnership Committee on Trade, and the agreements reached were also presented.

The agenda also included current developments in trade and investment, technical barriers in trade, as well as Armenia-EU cooperation, and some other related matters.

During the session, under the Dispute Settlement agenda, the Armenia-EU Partnership Committee on Trade decision was signed, and the relevant annexes—Code of Conduct, Mediation Mechanism, and Rules of Procedure documents—will be adopted.

And at the end of the session, the operational conclusions formed on the agenda items discussed during the meeting were approved.
