The Crossroads of Peace and the unblocking of transport infrastructures are first of all aimed at serving our interests. This is for us, we want to be at the crossroads of large, international logistics corridors. Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this during Thursday’s debates on the 2025 state budget draft at the joint meeting of the standing committees of the National Assembly of Armenia—and referring to the view of various countries regarding the Crossroads of Peace project proposed by Armenia.
"We considered and consider unacceptable the deployment, participation, etc. of any third forces along the [regional] routes. But, also, we are ready to start, if possible, the unblocking of those routes without delay under these conditions," said Mirzoyan.
Also, he stressed that there are many countries that have welcomed the Crossroads of Peace project.
"Actually, yes, I focused on our interests, but this is something that stems from the interests of many countries, so to speak, the interests of key countries that are the ‘center of gravity’ of geopolitical processes and east-west goods, passenger movement, and north-south goods, in terms of passenger traffic.
The process of welcoming this number is certainly not over, we are still working [on it]. I can say, I am almost certain that at some point in the near future, the Crossroads of Peace and the unblocking of the [regional] infrastructures will indeed become an important and very usable hub for the movement of goods between the various geopolitical centers I mentioned; and with this, Armenia's security will increase to a considerable degree, it itself will become a factor ensuring peace, which is why the [aforesaid] project was named ‘Crossroads of Peace,’" said the Armenian FM.
