Lithuanian residents with dual citizenship, one of which is Russian, Belarusian or Chinese, will not be accepted for military service. The corresponding bill was prepared by the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense and the Seimas (Parliament) Committee on National Security and Defense. This was reported by the BNS news agency.

“Such persons should not be accepted for military service, and those who took the citizenship of Russia, Belarus or China already during the service should be dismissed from the army,” the report quoted Defense Minister Laurinas Kasciunas as saying.

According to the draft law, Russia, Belarus and China are states threatening Lithuania's national security, so ties with them are a risk factor for servicemen. The Lithuanian military government has already banned visits to these countries for non-work purposes.
