Gnel Sanosyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, speaking with reporters at the National Assembly Monday, addressed the matters of the resumption of the railway in the context of the unblocking of regional communications.

"It is about the Meghri railway, the Yeraskh section, the Ijevan section railway. That is, those infrastructures that were and are not functioning now; it is about the possibilities of their restart," Sanosyan said.

To the question whether there is a specific railway which is more realistic to agree on in the first phase, Sanosyan responded: "There is no difference, I think. Of course, the work is different, but the work in the Meghri section implies work in Yeraskh, and as a system implies a greater connection and opportunity on the part of Iran, and already on the part of Azerbaijan and Kars and Gyumri—also with Turkey. That is, there must be work in both sections to be able to restart the railway."

And to the question whether all this is only at the level of discussions, or there are practical steps also, Sanosyan answered that if it is about railway construction, then there is no construction, and there are discussions with Azerbaijan.
