The Armenian government, in its Cabinet meeting Thursday, approved the proposal for amendments to the agreement between the governments of Armenia and Mongolia on the exemption of visa requirements for persons holding diplomatic and official passports of one another’s country.

This agreement had entered into force on June 2, 2019.

A proposal was received from the Mongolian side to make additions to the abovementioned agreement, and also exempting persons with ordinary passports from the aforesaid visa requirement.

In this regard, it should be noted that at the moment the number of tourists visiting Armenia from Mongolia is not large and the signing of the protocol implying the elimination of the Armenian visa requirement for persons with ordinary passports can be a certain stimulus for the expansion of bilateral tourist exchanges, as well as contribute to the development of bilateral business relations between the two countries.

The purpose of this protocol is to exempt Armenian and Mongolian citizens holding ordinary valid passports of their countries from the requirement of entry, exit, transit, and residence permits for each other's country for a period not exceeding 30 days from the date of entry.
