Tehran supports the opening of transport communications in the region—but taking into account the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia. Mehdi Sobhani, Iran's Ambassador to Armenia, told this to reporters on the sidelines of the three-day expert conference, entitled "Armenia-Iran: The course of cooperation and new perspectives," in Kapan, Armenia.

According to him, Iran's position regarding the so-called "Zangezur corridor" is clear: the Iranian side is against any geopolitical changes and corridor logic.

"The relations between Iran and Armenia have a clear foundation, we are neighbors who have lived side by side for centuries and have very good neighborly relations. And I don't think that someone will take a step against the interests of the people of both countries," said Sobhani.

He noted that in the past, Armenia-Iran relations also developed without the influence of external factors.

Tehran is convinced that relations with Yerevan will continue to develop in the spirit of bilateral cooperation, which is not affected by external factors.
