The situation in the South Caucasus remains difficult, but there are prerequisites for improvement, but the West is preventing it. This was stated by the secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Sergei Shoigu during the 12th annual meeting of the secretaries of the Security Councils of the CIS countries, in Moscow.

"As for regional security in the South Caucasus, the situation remains difficult, but there are prerequisites for improvement. It is hindered by foreign players—first of all, the countries of the West—who act with inappropriate goals, to put it mildly," Shoigu said.

According to him, what has been said proves the theory that regional problems need regional solutions.

The 12th meeting of the secretaries of the Security Councils of the CIS countries is being held under the chairmanship of Sergei Shoigu, and Armenia is represented at this event by Gurgen Arsenyan, the Armenian Ambassador to Russia.
