Regardless of the administration, the relations between Armenia and the US have quite stable institutional foundations. Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan told this to reporters after the Armenian government’s cabinet meeting Thursday—and referring to Donald Trump’s election as the US President.

"This year it was already announced that Armenia and the US are trying to raise the level of relations from strategic dialogue to strategic partnership, and intensive work is being carried out in this regard. Allow [me] to express [my] confidence that this work will be successful and will be completed even under the new [US] administration.

Our agenda [with the US] is based on shared values, democracy. But apart from that, work is currently underway to expand the agenda of cooperation, including the deepening of economic relations between the two states," said Kostanyan.

Over the course of these years, according to the Armenian deputy FM, Armenia’s contacts were always maintained with both US Democrats and Republicans.

And as for the views that it would have been more favorable for Armenia if Vice President Kamala Harris had been elected US President, Kostanyan responded: "I believe it's not right to be guided by ‘what ifs’ at this point. We have a fact. The American people have elected Donald Trump as the 47th President of the US, and the Armenian government will work with the elected president."
