Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bakaei rejected accusations that Tehran is involved in plots to assassinate former and current U.S. officials, Tasnim reported.

In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman rejected the allegations, calling them completely baseless.

According to him, such accusations have been made in the past, but Iran has strongly refuted them and proved them false.

Baqai said the repetition of such allegations at this stage is “a malicious plot organized by Zionist and anti-Iranian circles to further complicate relations between the US and Iran.”

The spokesman also reiterated that Iran remains committed to using all legal and legitimate means, both domestically and internationally, to restore the rights of the Iranian nation.

Earlier, the U.S. Justice Department said Iran had directed agent Farhad Shakeri to conduct surveillance and prepare the assassination of President-elect Donald Trump.
