Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan's working visit to Sweden has started, the foreign ministry of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

First, Mirzoyan had tête-à-tête with Swedish foreign minister Maria Malmer Stenergard, during which a broad range of agenda matters were discussed.

Subsequently, an extended meeting of the Armenian and Swedish foreign ministers was held in the format of a working lunch.

The interlocutors discussed the prospects of expanding the high-level political dialogue between Armenia and Sweden, enriching their bilateral agenda, and deepening their cooperation. And in order to promote their sectoral cooperation, the main domains of mutual interest were highlighted.

The current phase of the Armenia-EU partnership, the respective recorded achievements and the possibilities of development of the new ambitious agenda were touched upon, too.

The FMs of Armenia and Sweden exchanged views also on regional security and stability. In this connection, Mirzoyan reaffirmed and emphasized Armenia's vision of achieving sustainable peace in the South Caucasus, including through the normalization of relations with neighbors and the promotion of economic development in the region.

In addition, the minister of foreign affairs of Armenia presented the efforts towards the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the agreement recorded in the border delimitation process between the two countries—and based on the Alma-Ata declaration of 1991.

In the context of regional issues, reference was made to the Crossroads of Peace project developed by the Armenian government, the implementation of which, according to the FM of Armenia, will effectively increase regional connectivity through the unblocking of transport infrastructures.
