I consider participating in the BRICS summit very important and effective; the range of contacts is usually much broader in such events. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, stated this during the question-and-answer session with the government at the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia on Wednesday.

"I want to express my satisfaction regarding my contacts with the president of Azerbaijan [Ilham Aliyev] and the extended staff. It may sound a little strange, but we haven't had such a long conversation in a long time, or at all. There was a little issue of correctness, at least on my part, because other leaders were speaking, whereas we were exchanging views, but a very important conversation took place," said the Armenian premier.

According to Pashinyan, the most important part of this conversation with Aliyev was the idea that, in his opinion, Armenia and Azerbaijan need not only a peace treaty or other agreements, but also a strategic deal for peaceful coexistence.

"I myself have certain ideas about that strategic deal; there is no secret there either. Basically, our understanding of the strategic deal is based on the concept of real Armenia. I consider that conversation very important, although it should still have political manifestations, but it is not necessary to expect that such conversations automatically have political manifestations," emphasized the Armenian PM.
