Still no progress in process of returning body of Armenian woman, 70, who died in Azerbaijan-occupied Stepanakert

There is still no progress in the process of returning the body of Armenian woman Vera Aghasyan, 70, who had died in Stepanakert, the capital of Azerbaijani-occupied Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), on October 20. Zara Amatuni, Communication and Prevention Program Manager of the Armenia office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), confirmed this information in an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am.

"At the moment, there is no progress in this matter yet. We [i.e. the ICRC] have expressed readiness to contribute to the implementation of further steps [in this regard] upon agreement of both parties. At the moment, the decision is in the hands of the parties. But I can say that the matter remains in the center of our attention," said Amatuni.

To note, the relatives of Vera Aghasyan, who had died in Azerbaijani-occupied Artsakh capital Stepanakert on October 20, had petitioned to the ICRC with a request to have her body buried in Armenia.
