In an interview with Hungarian state radio, Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that the European Union (EU) should abandon the policy of sanctions against Russia due to the Ukrainian war, otherwise it may cause an economic collapse.
Hungary's PM said on Friday that this EU sanctions regime "must be reviewed because energy prices will not go down with such sanctions’ policy."
"This will be painful for those who support sanctions. Not for us [i.e. Hungary] because we will see this as a victory. But the other camp must change because otherwise it will destroy the European economy," Orban added.
