The chairperson of the Federation Council of Russia, Valentina Matviyenko, plans to visit Armenia next year. Yuri Vorobyov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council  and Co-Chair of the Armenian-Russian interparliamentary commission, told reporters in Yerevan about this, TASS reports.

"We expect that the meeting of the chairperson of the [Russian] Federation Council, Valentina Ivanovna Matviyenko, will take place next year, here in Armenia. She has received such an invitation. And, of course, we are preparing this visit, and we hope that it will coincide with the interregional conference, which is regularly held once every two years. That is, we are preparing, cooperation is active, in my opinion. I am sure that we will resolve all the issues," said Vorobyov.

According to him, Matviyenko's visit to Armenia is expected "at the beginning of the first or second quarter of next year".

Vorobyov added that the next meeting of the Armenian-Russian interparliamentary commission will take place in Sochi, Russia, and it will be dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War—in World War II.
