TROY. - A monument dedicated to the Armenian Genocide victims of 1915 will be mounted in one of the parks in New York state. Priests Bedros Shetilyan and Stepanos Dudukyan sanctified the place where the monument is going to be placed after the park has been renovated.

The project of the monument which is going to be placed in Troy, New York, has been developed five years ago, the local paper The Times Union informs.

Troy city mayor of Armenian origins Harry Tutunjian informed that the city located in the north of US hosted Armenians already at the end of the 19th century.

Currently there are 418 Armenians in Troy.

Around 50 representatives of Troy city Armenian community were present at the sanctifying ceremony including the prosecutor of New York state northern region Richard Harutyunyan.
