There is no official cooperation between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the management of transboundary water resources. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia stated this in response to an inquiry of Sputnik news agency—and commenting on the latest statement by the US ambassador to Azerbaijan.

"Contacts on this topic were only at the level of non-governmental organizations of the two countries," added the MFA of Armenia.

The US ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mark Libby, recently announced the joint work by hydrologists and engineers of Azerbaijan and Armenia toward the creation of an integrated water resource management system for the border rivers of the region.

During the COP29 climate conference in the Azerbaijani capital Baku, Libby had noted that the US supports the aforesaid work.
