A DHL cargo plane crashed on a two-storey home early Monday morning near Vilnius Airport, killing one pilot, according to preliminary data from the Lithuanian authorities, Delfi reports.

A fire broke out in the building and warehouses nearby.

The incident happened at around 5:28am. All the twelve people registered as residents in the house were evacuated. The fire was localized at around 7:33am.

The aircraft was reportedly flying from Leipzig, Germany. Swiftair was the operator of this Boeing 757 flight.

LRT public radio earlier reported that the aircraft was small, with two pilots and two crew members possibly aboard.

"A pilot has recovered his consciousness, he has been freed up from the plane and taken to medics," Giedrius Vaicculis, spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department, had told LRT radio.
