Until 2018, or 2017, Karabakh is an independent state, isn't it? Because an independent state has its own attribute. Until now, both our friends and non-friends say: "If it was so, you should have recognized [it]." Moreover, something treasonous is attributed to us. Before that I was an MP, there were several initiatives in this hall from the opposition for us to recognize Karabakh. We have said, “No. Karabakh is not an independent state.” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at the National Assembly of Armenia Tuesday.

“Very well, is Karabakh not Azerbaijan? Because whoever said that Karabakh is Azerbaijan, it’s clear what would have been the reaction? Karabakh is Armenia, no? Okay, people, Karabakh is not independent, it is not Armenia, it is not Azerbaijan, so what is it?

(…) the policy we are conducting can be considered wrong. If we formulate the question in terms of getting a chance to keep the [Armenian] state, I have to say that the policy that we conducted and are conducting is not right or wrong, but it was the only possible option, and it is the only possible option today that gives us a chance to have a state," Pashinyan declared, and added that a lot depends on how Armenians will use that chance and opportunity.
