Refusing to support terrorism, respecting the rights of Syrian Shiites, and staying away from Israel are the main conditions of Iran for its cooperation with the new Syrian authorities, stated Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

"Our [i.e. Iran’s] interaction with those who will rule in Damascus depends on their behavior and policies towards the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Shiites of Syria, as well as how far they will be from the Zionist regime [i.e. Israel] and terrorist groups," said the diplomat on the air of Iran's state television and radio. "It is not easy to get different factions and clans to agree on the future government of Syria, but we support this process because we want the will of the Syrian people prevail."
