We discussed the issues of prisoners of war (POWs) and Karabakh refugees within the framework of PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council). However, we cannot demand something from the PACE outside its mandate. Vladimir Vardanyan, an MP of the ruling majority Civil Contract Faction and chairman of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia, stated this at a press conference in Yerevan Monday.

According to him, PACE has done everything in its power to ensure the return of Armenian POWs who are kept in Azerbaijan.

"The resolutions that were adopted within the framework of the PACE were clearly related to the issue of the immediate return of Armenian POWs. That is, we simply cannot demand PACE to do something more," said Vardanyan, and added that there was no tangible progress on this matter yet.

A similar situation has arisen in the case of Armenian refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh as well, the Armenian lawmaker noted.
