Director Shoghakat Vardanyan’s movie "1489," which tells about the 44-day war in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in 2020, was named a winner at the Rome International Documentary Festival (RIDF) , Vardanyan herself informed on Facebook.

"I am really honored and this is a big responsibility," added Vardanyan.

"1489" had won the main prize at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) in 2023, and also won the main prize of "best film" at IDFA—the world's most prestigious documentary film festival.

"1489" presents the family atmosphere of the Vardanyan family, their emotions, feelings, suffering, and expectations during the days of the 44-day war in 2020, when they lose contact with their beloved son and brother Soghomon Vardanyan, 21, who is on the frontline.
