Military aid to Ukraine, the situation in Syria after the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad, and possible sanctions against the Georgian authorities will be the main topics of the last session for 2024 of the foreign ministers of the 27 European Union (EU) member states, in Brussels. The meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Kaja Kallas, the new Vice-President of the EU Commission and High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

As a representative of the EU told reporters in Brussels, the conflict in Ukraine and the military assistance provided to it remain the absolute priority of the EU. This is what Kallas intends to demonstrate at the Council of Ministers, emphasizing the need for military assistance to Kyiv.

Also, the EU foreign ministers will approve the 15th package of sanctions on Russia, as well as the blacklist due to Moscow's hybrid wars. Last week, EU permanent representatives agreed on the 15th package of sanctions, which include measures against foreign tankers carrying Russian oil.

This blacklist will include 54 people and 29 organizations, according to the November 28 document, reports the EUobserver. Also, the EU will add 34 companies and 47 ships to the gray list—as additional monitoring is required for those on it.
