There are no final decisions regarding Russian military bases in Syria yet, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said, the Kommersant newspaper reported.

According to him, the future of Russia's military presence in this Middle Eastern country will be decided in dialog with the new authorities.

“There are no final decisions on this now. We are in contact with representatives of the forces that now control the situation in the country, and all this will be determined in the course of the dialog,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

The Russian military in Syria is stationed at the Khmeimim airbase and at the logistics center in Tartus. According to a bilateral treaty, the Russian Federation can use the bases until 2066.
